About Common Charge.

We’re a coalition of innovators built to put the power—literally—back in the people’s hands by creating a reliable energy system that works for everyone, everywhere.

Our mission is to break the status quo.

It's time to recast our antiquated energy system. Common Charge exists to unlock energy solutions for every American—where grid reliability is paramount and affordability is key. It’s time to challenge outdated energy systems and expand access to distributed assets that benefit all ratepayers. Now you hold the power—not just to use energy, but to shape it.

The impact isn’t hypothetical. It’s happening now.

1 GW
Grid-relief capactiy.
California’s Demand-Side Grid Support program delivered over a gigawatt of relief through four major events, including heatwaves, in 2025. Networked home batteries supplied more than 700 megawatts of total capacity, helping to prevent outages and keep the lights on.
50 MW
Provided in peak demand.
More than 81,000 Puerto Ricans joined the Customer Battery Energy Sharing pilot—sending nearly 50 megawatts of power back to the grid during peak demand almost every day in the summer of 2025. When a natural gas plant unexpectedly tripped offline, home batteries were called on to prevent an island-wide blackout.
$100M+
Savings in 2024.
Behind-the-meter solar helped keep the lights on for thousands of homes and saved all ratepayers hundreds of millions of dollars during summer heatwaves in New England. While New York delivered 6 gigawatts of distributed solar early and under budget in 2024, saving customers millions on energy bills.
500,000
Homes
powered.
During the 2017 coast-to-coast solar eclipse, Nest users each received a quick text asking them to lower their thermostats—and they did. That small action reduced grid strain by 750 megawatts, equal to powering 500,000 homes.

We’re not your average energy coalition.

Change calls for collective action. When it comes to fixing our energy system, no one gets left out. Common Charge brings together a diverse coalition of doers—advocates, organizations, policymakers, nonprofits, and consumers—to create a stronger, more affordable future that can be powered from everywhere.

Our perspectives and expertise are broad, but we are united by a shared cause: to unlock consumer power and champion solutions that support families, businesses, and communities.
